Bryant and Polly Dowling Crews

Bryant Crews was born on 10 Dec 1844 in Ware County Georgia.He was the son of Micajah and Emaliza Robinson Crews. He died on 1 Jan 1938 in Brantley County, Georgia.
Bryant married Mary Letitia "Polly" Dowling daughter of David C. Dowling and Letitia Thomas. Polly was born on 16 Nov 1845. She died on 28 Mar 1929.
Bryant Crews was known as Little Bryant, and one of the last living civil war vets in Ware County.





Walter Britton "Britt" CREWS



Walter Britton (Britt) Crews was born on 18 Mar 1876. He died on 1 Jan 1951.
Britt married Nancy Missouri Aldridge daughter of Isham Aldridge and Emeniza Altman. Nancy was born on 26 Aug 1877 in Ware County, Georgia . She died on 9 Apr 1964 in Dinsmore, Florida. Both Nancy and Britt were buried in High Bluff Cemetery, Brantley County, Georgia.

Andrew Bryant Crews was the son of Walter Britton "Britt" and Nancy Ann Missouri Aldridge Crews. He married Katherine Simmons daughter of Elzie Simmons and Henrietta Lloyd on 18 Nov 1929. Katherine was born on 18 Sep 1913. She died on 12 Feb 1994.

Ordinary Gibson has married the following since November 25th: Among out of town couples, he married Andrew B. Crews of Ware County and Miss Katie Simmons of Homeland.

TWO WILDLIFE OFFICERS KILLED.

A coroner's jury Monday returned a verdict of Death from gunshot wounds inflicted by parties unknownî in the Okefenokee mystery slaying of Bryant Crews, 37, and Joe Martin, 39, Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge Wardens, whose buckshot-ridden bodies were found early Sunday near Cane Creek, on the northern fringe of the Okefenokee Swamp. The two men had gone to Cane Creek to investigate trespassers who had been burning woods on the federal refuge property.

Oliver Thrift, 64 year old barefoot swamp native, arrested late Tuesday has confessed the killing of Crews and Martin. He already has a case pending against him for the larceny of beehives from a neighbor. Crews is survived by a number of brothers and sisters, among his sisters being Mrs. Owen Prescott, Mrs. Claude Prescott and Mrs. Everett Prescott. Funeral services for Crews were held at High Bluff Church, with burial in the High Bluff Cemetery.
