“HOME” BY: NATALIE CREWS Have you ever been to a place that you felt completely comfortable at the moment you got there? Well, that’s how you would feel if you ever visited my hometown,-Nahunta, Georgia. People are so friendly and nice, you can’t drive down the street without passing several people that you know. I am really happy that I had the opportunity to grow up in this small town. People care about each other. A neighbor is more like a member of your family than an acquaintance. When tragedy strikes, there is always someone there to support you. For example, when there is a death, people express their sympathy by sending flowers, food, visiting, calling frequently and basically just being there for you. There are many advantages to living in Nahunta. The school system doesn’t have as many problems with violence. We have a few fights, but other than that is basically nonexistent. I know that I personally, have had many opportunities that I would not have had encountered if I had lived somewhere else. The most important factor though, is the familiarity that encompasses you. It’s a place that will probably seem mundane to many, but to those who live, it’s the best place on earth. No matter how far I go in life or where I chose to live Nahunta will always be my home. My roots are here with my family and friends. I know that my path in life will probably lead me away, but my heart will always remain with my family, friends, and neighbors in this great little town. It may not seem to be much when you visit, but just remember , “It’s the people that make this town, and I love them all” The reason for this song is because Natalie was President of the Sr. Class of 1999 and she chose this song as their class song and it got voted it. Now she did not know that it would be played at her funeral only weeks later. Please keep my Mother in mind today as this is a tough day for her. We miss you baby sister.
